Three is the new two

These kiddos are turning THREE in the next few months! Where does the time go?

Brady, EJ and Katie, all turning three in the next two months.

The birthday party circuit started today, at Chuck E Cheese, for handsome EJ.

Three pregnant Mommy's. Erin (21 weeks along), Jen (31ish weeks along with a boy) and me (39 weeks)

Happy Birthday to our friend EJ, you silly little 3 year old.

Silly boy

So this two year old has not yet realized the pure joy that is Thanksgiving dinner. He did not touch ANY of his food. Not a bite. So instead of a healthy filling turkey dinner, Brady had whip cream. Sprayed directly into his mouth. For dinner. Awesome.

So thankful for these people

What a wonderful weekend we had. I hope you all had a blessed holiday too.

Just chatting after dessert

My pretty Mom who worked so hard the whole time she was here helping us with everything and anything.
Thank you Mama.

Cruel, I know

Tonight we are getting out "the big tree" and thus begins the major Christmas decorating around here. I came across this movie from New Year's Day (of this year) when we were taking the tree down. I know, I know, I shouldn't laugh at this movie but what it shows me is that maybe even before he was two I think Brady realized how wonderful and magical Christmas really is.

Ten on Tuesday: The Wednesday Edition - part 2

I was having some formatting issues I had to abandon ship and finish in a new post!

5. I made this a few weekends ago. Hopefully you can tell that it is suppossed to be a Christmas tree.
6. I'm working on a rag quilt for my little Lucy. Her room is turquoise and hot pink and I'm going for a cottage look so hopefully this fits right in. I have all the squares cut and pinned, now it's time to sew it all together. Easier said than done. Thankfully Mike's Mom is helping me!
7. My Mom called the other day to ask me if I bought my turkey yet (my parents, sister and Mike's parents will be at our house for dinner). I said something along the lines of "no, I still have two weeks" and my Mom said "Jenny, Thanksgiving is next week!" Oh right!

8. Brady has been really into eating peanut butter. Not on anything though, just with a spoon and the jar!
9. For the record, I'm still pregnant.

10. I hope you are having a cozy day wherever you are.

Ten on Tuesday: The Wednesday Edition - part 1

1. Winter is here! Ok, I know technically it's still Fall but it's been snowing and it's lovely and cozy and I love it. Snow and cold weather around here ='s slipper season. I love seeing these feet run around the house!

2. My dear playgroup friends took me out to dinner on Saturday night to Brio at The Greene and showered me with with all things pink. Then we walked and shopped and talked and it was just what I needed. Thank you girls.

3. Brady went to the dentist yesterday for the first time! He sat on my lap and let them look in his mouth, count 20 teeth and let them spray water in his mouth, that was his favorite part, who doesn't love that little water sprayer? He got a toothbrush, toothpaste and a pencil and was happy. Next time perhaps they will attempt to clean his teeth but the hygentist and dentist said one step at a time and what he did yesterday was perfect for a 2 year old! We love our dentist, Mike actually grew up going to this same dentist and the lady in the first picture started cleaning Mike's teeth when he was in elementary school!

4. Brady has his last art class today. He made a Christmas ornament and we hung it on the little tree that he has in his bedroom. It's just the second ornament on his tree, we only got the tree out and up, the ornaments will come this weekend.

I think I can. I think I can. I think I can...

....stay awake all day long...or not...This is what happens when you make your Mama stay up from 4am-6am to read The Little Engine That Could over and over and over again. He slept in until 9:30am and I was trying very hard to keep him awake all day so that he would go to bed early. Oh well, here is a picture taken around 4:25pm, nice try Mama. Now he'll be up 'til who knows when!

Puppies and turkey's

Good morning! Below are some pictures from the past few days...quick wrap up, we took Brady to Build-A-Bear on Tuesday when Mike had the day off. He seemed to LOVE the experience and be really into the puppy dog he picked and named (her name is Kenzy). Well since we purchased Kenzy, he has not touched her. In fact, he told Mike to take her back to the store and he won't let her leave her "cage" (i.e. the Build-a-Bear box). We probably should have followed our own advice which is avoid stuffed animals at all costs but we gave in to the lure of the adorable bears and experience Build-A-Bear offers. Never again though :)

Brady has been attending an art class for the last 4 weeks. We have one class left. He really enjoys it and come January I think we will take another one. Yesterday he made a turkey. The funny thing about this class though, I'd say 90% of the parents end up doing the project for their child. So everyone is showing their turkey's yesterday and they are these perfect looking turkey's with the feathers in just the right place. Well what's the point if you are going to do the project for your kiddo? Brady's is 100% genuinely his. Here are some images from yesterday's class.

Hmmm

The peanut gallery has been reminding me that I have not "blogged" in a week now. I'm aware but I just don't have anything to blog about....possible topics...

1. Me being an emotional wreck over having a second baby? No, that stirs up too many tears for me right now.

2. My exhaustion level? No, who wants to hear about that when I know we all are tired.

3. The fact that Brady is still awake at 10:03pm even though he's been in his room since 8:38pm?

4. The Penn State loss, the Steeler loss, the McCain/Palin loss? No, all of those make me grumpy.

See, I'm just out of topics right now! And I haven't taken any good pictures! Perhaps tomorrow will bring new inspiration and a lighter, brighter mood for this emotional Mommy!
Goodnight friends.

Coffee Time

So the story goes, my Grandmother (Lucille May, hence our soon to be Lucy May), would call my Mom and Aunts inside in the evening from playing for a cup of coffee. She would stand on the porch and yell "Coffee Time". My sister and I always loved hearing about "Coffee Time" and it always made us laugh thinking about little kids drinking coffee. My Mom and Dad both drink coffee in the morning and sometimes a cup of decaf in the evening. Brady has always been fascinated with the making of the coffee at MeMa's. To the point where it is obsessive. The minute he sees my Mom he asks to make coffee. He scoops the coffee into the filter, pours the water in and then sits and waits for it to brew. Then he helps put the "milkie" (half and half) and the sugar into the cups so he can then stir it up. Well somewhere along the line he started asking to taste the coffee, well then it turned into a few sips....then into half a cup and now this.

Don't worry, this only happens once in a blue moon. The best part of this trip to Starbucks was Brady walking up to the counter and ordering the coffee himself. He said "Hello, can I have a cup of coffee please". The lady looked at me and laughed and I said, "oh no, he's serious" and she said "really?" So he got a small cup of decaf and everyone was happy.

So next time in your town and you are looking for the best cup of coffee around, ask Brady to brew you a pot, you won't be disappointed. Just ask MeMa or Pop or his Auntie Laura (Mike's sister), they'll tell you.

Weekend Wrap Up, the Laura McCarthy edition

We had such a great weekend! First we had trick-or-treating at Mike's office on Friday.

Then my sister, Laura, came! She brought Brady these Lightning McQueen slippers which have been on his feet non stop.

We went bowling on Saturday...which by the way, if you ever wondered if you could take a 2 year old bowling and have it be an enjoyable experience, you can! Brady had a blast and that perhaps is an understatement. He loved every minute of it. He bowled two games with a 6 lb. ball and bumpers on his own lane! He even got a spare! I think we will go bowling more often - fun, family-friendly and economical.

On Sunday, Laura, Brady and I hopped on the Lebanon Mason Railroad for a train ride to a farm to see animals, run through a corn maze, etc. This was a "big big diesel train". Oh that boy and his trains.
Sitting on the train before we made our way out to the open air gondola.
By the way, Brady gets his wonderful, curly hair from my side of the family as you can see!

Cashmere and Coach in a corn field. This is one reason why I love my sister, doesn't matter where we go or what we do, she always looks good doing it! I need to learn a few things from her.
Curled up sound asleep with his Aunt Laura, oh he adores her.
Next up, when time allows, a post about coffee and a movie clip of bowling Brady.
