Monster

I've created a monster. A sleeping in my bed monster and her name is Lucy. It all started when I came home from a trip to Pittsburgh a few weeks ago. She was fussing in her bassinet and wouldn't fall back to sleep so I picked her up and put her in bed with Mike and I because I was so exhausted. She fell asleep and we all slept peacefully for several hours. And of course, you know how stories like this go....it kept happening, night after night and I would put her in bed with us and now it's like she expects it! Can you believe it? Some nerve! LOL When Brady was a baby, he never slept in bed with us. I followed the rules and never even thought about letting him sleep with us. So why the heck is Lucy in bed with us?!?!? Last night I said to myself, ok, she is going to sleep in her bassinet and that is final. So she did from 9pm-1am. She woke up for a bottle and I put her back in her bassinet. She was thrashing around in there for almost 20 minutes and then....I gave in....I picked her up, she smiled at me (of course), I put her in between Mike and I and she was asleep....in, I swear, 30 seconds. This girl has me wrapped around her little finger, just where she wants me.

No unsolicited advice here please, I know, I know, it's going to become a habit and we'll never get her out of our bed, blah blah blah. I don't want to hear it :) Right now I'm in survival mode and this is what it is taking for me to survive. Please and thank you!

Taking her morning nap in my bed.
Just had to throw these two pictures in just because! How 'bout that dimple?

You go girl! It takes a stong mama to admit that you are doing what you have to to survive. I think we swayed away from all of the "rules" a few times ourselves and I wouldn't say our kids are too screwed up yet! :)

Both of our daughters spent a lot of time in bed with us much like yours...they'd go to sleep in their co-sleeper or crib and end up with us after the mid-of-the-night feeding. One is seven months now and the other two years old and both sleep comfortably in their own cribs all night long. In fact, we sometimes want our older daughter to sleep with us and she can't (won't). She squirms and talks and would rather be back in her own bed. Don't listen to the extremists who warn about long-term habits being formed! You are doing what is right for you AND your beautiful daughter. Your pictures are so sweet...there's nothing more adorable than a sleeping baby and they look SO CUTE when they are in your BIG bed. Best wishes to you! Chris@momtonic

I love nothing more than to hear other mothers be realistic and do what works for them at the time for their family and for no one else...she won't always want to sleep there and if that's what is getting you sleep so you can take care of two children then so be it!
And by golly, if she doesn't look like a tiny perfect little porcelain doll!!! Heck, I'D let her sleep in my bed!!! Love to see those Brady dimples...

Little girls love having their mommy's wrapped around their finger. They give you a little smile and it melts your heart. It is the sweetest thing. And I have to agree with you about the importance of sleep. You gotta do what you gotta do when it comes to getting sleep. Gosh, I slept on Hannah's floor so she would sleep through the night. All so I could get the much need rest. Speaking of which I have got to go to bed.
