It's a Great Day for Hockey

We grew up loving and I mean loving hockey.  My Dad started taking us to Penguin games when we were very young.  A true passion for the game developed from watching Mario Lemieux lead the Penguins to two Stanley Cup wins when I was in middle school.  I had little rituals that I had to go through before games, lots of Pens tshirts and my parents waited in a few longs lines with me so I could get autographs.

On Saturday, Laura and I went to a Pens game, my first since before Brady was born.  Oh I had missed that atmosphere.  Our cousin Kyle, works for the Carolina Hurricanes, the Penguins opponent. and he was able to get some INCREDIBLE tickets for us.   This was most likely the last game we would attend in the famed and very old Mellon Arena (Civic Arena) or "The Igloo"

The Penguins new home starting next season.
I love Pittsburgh.
Kyle, Laura and I before the game.  Thanks Mr. Staal for taking our picture!

First faceoff of the game.  If you are a hockey fan you will notice that Eric Staal is taking the faceoff for the Hurricanes and Jordan Staal is taking the faceoff for the Penguins. Yes, brothers!  And we happened to be sitting next to their father for the game!
A little hockey brawl.

The Penguins lost the game with 0.9 seconds left in overtime.  It was a heartbreaker but SO exciting.  Really.  We had a fantastic afternoon.  Thanks for the tickets Kyle and thanks to my parents for staying home with Brady and Lucy.
