A unique opportunity

We are really learning to like certain things about Southern California.  My favorite is the proximity to the ocean and all things that come with living near the ocean.  Many years ago when I came to visit my brother-in-law and sister-in-law who were also stationed here, they took us to a facility called Marine Mammal Care, just down the street from base housing.  At Marine Mammal Care, they rehabilitate California Sea Lions, Seals, Elephant Seals, etc. That experience stuck with me and on of the first things we did when we arrived here in SoCal was to drive down to MMC to see the animals.  And we've been back monthly since our arrival in June.

Right before Christmas we were there on a visit and we met this little buddy, a male California Sea Lion.

And today, we were able to see him (and another young male we saw in December) released back into the wild at the beach 1/2 mile away from our house.

We invited our favorite friends to join us.

And were so thankful to be able to witness this happy event.

(My camera work is terrible, but you get the idea!  And excuse my cheesiness, I was caught up in the moment!)

Good Luck little buddy!
