Splash

A classic summertime activity:

Lucy's turn!  Yes, I said Lucy's turn*.

She loved it.  I mean looooovvvved it.  She kept going back for more.  She has no fear.  Yet.

Summer has arrived with a splash.

Welcome summer.  We are happy you are here.

*No babies were harmed in the making of these memories.

Dayton (alt. title - A lot of Pictures)

Last week we spent 5 wonderful days back "home", Dayton, Ohio -  the place that most feels like home besides Pittsburgh.  My brother-in-law, sister-in-law and niece were also in town.  We all stayed at The Zollars home (Mike's parents) and spent those 5 days doing some of our favorite Dayton things.  Things, that in most cases we are learning, are very unique to Dayton.  Word to the wise, if you really love a place you are living and have to move away, do not return to that said place within 2 months of moving.  It will only confuse you (and your children) and kind of make your heart ache.  I loved being back but I hated being back too.  Returning "home" less than 2 months after we left was just too soon.  It was like rubbing salt in an wound.  Another word to the wise, if you have kids, Dayton, Ohio is an amazing place to live. Get out and discover it and you'll understand why I love it so much.
Enough whining though, onto the pictures of the truly delightful time we had back in a town that we adore.

There were the trains at Carillon Park

And playing in the fountains at The Greene

Loving Wergerzyn Gardens (what a magical place, haven't found a place anywhere that compares)

Enjoying all that Young's Dairy has to offer (we went mini golfing and ate ice cream too but I failed to document those)

(for those concerned, that's a shrieking in delight face on Lucy.  She was obsessed)

And overall being silly and spending time with family.  Because that is what is important.

Thanks for the memories Dayton, we can't wait to come back and visit.

So very behind

on blogging and perhaps I will catch up today and tomorrow. For now, here is a picture of a family member who's face is rarely shown around here.

 We love our Coaly dog.

Happy weekend.

Oh how the years go by

*this little blast from the past had this sentimental fool weeping*

Not so much the freshly turned 2 year old on a trike he got for his Birthday
Instead a 4 year old riding a "big boy bike" like it's no big deal, down to the river and back without one push, one complaint, one "help me please Mama".

I guess you were ready for a big boy bike, I think it was your Mama and Dada who weren't quite ready.

And then there's this....

And riding together.  Happy. Carefree.

Childhood.
